Providing humanitarian aid today to the world's needy is a "fantastic investment" in the future.

That's according to the UN relief chief, Stephen O'Brien, speaking ahead of World Humanitarian Day, marked each 19 August.

The focus of this year's event is the targeting of civilians and humanitarian workers who are caught up in violent conflict around the world.

The #NotATarget campaign highlights the vulnerable who are trapped in wars not of their own making, and calls for more robust protection of the rights of medical workers who have been deliberately attacked in places such as Syria and Yemen.
