50 fishermen were held in the prisons of the Eritrean authorities and returned Thursday to the al-Khouba fishing port of Hodeida.
The director of the port, Mohammed Hashem Al-Mahdali, explained that the returning fishermen were received and transportation was provided for their return to their villages and areas, with the disbursement of symbolic financial aid.
For their part, the fishermen stated that they had been abducted by Eritrean boats in Yemeni territorial waters, and were detained for a period ranging between 25 and 50 days, and their boats were confiscated.
During their detention, they were subjected to inhuman treatment and forced to do hard work in exchange for a meal throughout the day.
At the reception was the Director of Port Security, Colonel Awadh Al-Qohom, and a number of officials at the port.
