The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs-Minister of Finance Dr. Rashid Abu Lohoum, along with Hodeida Governor Muhammad Ayyash Qahim and Chairman of the Presidential Committee Ahmed Al-Hadi, inspected on Thursday the conditions of citizens on Kamaran Island.
During the visit, Dr. Abu Lohoum and his companions laid the foundation stone for a project to build a tower water tank with a capacity of 50 cubic meters, and to install 3 solar energy systems for the island’s desalination plants, with a capacity of 500 kilowatts, to provide drinking water to the villages of Kamaran’s residents, Yemen and Makram at an estimated cost of 320 million riyals, coinciding with the celebration of the Prophet’s birthday.
The Deputy Prime Minister directed the speedy rehabilitation of the rainwater harvesting tank that was targeted by the aggression, and also directed the provision of power systems to the island’s schools, and medical equipment to the island hospital.
He explained that these projects, which will be financed by the Central Emergency Development Intervention Unit at the Ministry of Finance and the Hodeida province Support and Development Fund, come within the framework of interest in alleviating people’s suffering of the island.
Dr. Abu Lohoum directed studies to implement caravans to collect water and reclaim as much agricultural land as possible on the island.
He referred to the interest of the Leader of the Revolution and the Head of the Political Council and their keenness to provide the most important means of livelihood for the residents of Kamaran Island. Dr. Abu Lahoum praised the efforts of the leadership of the local authority and the local water institution to deliver services to the people of the island.
They were accompanied on the visit by the Undersecretary of the Finance Ministry, Kamal Khaled, the local administration, Jamal Alawi, the director of the Local Corporation for Water and Sanitation, Abd al-Rahman Ishaq, and the director of the district, Abd al-Rahim Madani.
