Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Eng. Abdulmalik Al-Thawr discussed on Sunday with Deputy Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Yemen Dr. Muhammad Salam aspects of cooperation to support agricultural activities.
The meeting stressed the importance of focusing on supporting the implementation of expanded statistical surveys of cultivated lands in Tihama and Jawf, and supporting efforts to expand the cultivation of grain crops.
Al-Thawr and Salam emphasized to provide financial and technical support to the General Administration of Statistics to support its efforts in preparing accurate statistical data in partnership with the Central Statistical Organization, to serve food security and agricultural development information.
They touched on the possible ways of enhancing cooperation between the two sides and increasing support for agricultural activities and food security programmes.
The meeting was attended by Director of the Food Security and Nutrition Information Systems Project at the “FAO” in Yemen Alimo Asfaw, former director of the project Kamao Wengohi, the national expert for the project Dr. Mansour Al-Qadasi, and a number of officials.
