Agriculture Ministry directed to prevent importing foreign raisins & garlic

The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation directed to prevent importing foreign raisins and garlic.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Radwan Al-Rubai, explained to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that preventing importing raisins and foreign garlic aims to encourage and protect local production of these two crops, due to the losses that the import results in for farmers, and a drain on hard currency.

He stressed the importance of importers' commitment to the circular issued by the ministry, pointing out that the Ministry of Agriculture seeks, within the framework of its plans and programs, to protect and encourage local agricultural products and regulate their circulation in the markets.

Al-Rubai stressed the need for coordination between the concerned authorities to support local agricultural products by preventing entrance of any quantities of foreign products, particularly raisins and garlic.
