Al-Assad: Arab League?’s mechanism “must be developed”

Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad said that the Arab League's work system and mechanisms "must be developed", stressing the need to prevent foreign interference in Arab affairs.

This came in Al-Assad?’s speech during the 32nd Arab Summit.

The Syrian President stressed that the Arab League should develop new strategies, mechanisms and common goals to establish future plans for joint Arab action.

"We are facing a historic opportunity to rearrange our situation," said Al-Assad, adding that hope is increasing with Arab-Arab rapprochement and the launch of a new phase of joint action.

He expressed appreciation and gratitude to Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud for his efforts in the Arab reconciliation.

The Syrian President also thanked Arab leaders and delegations for welcoming Syria back to the Arab League.

For his part, Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi said that the region is going through unstable conditions that threaten the present and the future.

He also stressed that peace is the strategic option for settlement in the Middle East region, with the necessity of establishing an independent Palestinian state, warning against the military and security management of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
