Al-Hodeidah Governor Launches Solar-Powered Water Wells in Zabid


Al-hodeidah: Governor Abdullah Atefi has inaugurated a project aimed at rehabilitating and operating three water wells in the Zabid District. This initiative, managed under the Local Water and Sanitation Authority, is funded by Al-Zaili Company for Diverse Agricultural Industries Ltd.



According to Yemen News Agency, the project focuses on the Al-Wajih, Al-Hunud, and Al-Mahlaj wells. These wells have been upgraded with solar energy systems, providing a sustainable solution for drinking water in the district and reducing reliance on fuel-powered pumps.



Governor Atefi emphasized the significance of this project as a testament to successful public-private partnerships in community service. He praised Al-Zaili Company for its pivotal role in funding and implementing this essential project that meets the immediate needs of local citizens.



The governor noted that the project is part of broader efforts by local authorities to achieve sustainable development through renewable energy solutions. He encouraged community participation and urged local traders and businessmen to contribute to similar initiatives that support community needs and development within the governorate.



Abdulrahman Ishaq, Director of the Local Water and Sanitation Authority, explained that the integrated solar energy systems installed in the wells would ensure a continuous water supply and reduce operational costs. He highlighted the project’s potential to improve the Authority’s capacity to provide clean water to residents, emphasizing the sustainability benefits of using solar energy.



In a gesture of appreciation, Governor Atefi honored Al-Zaili Company, the Water Authority, and other contributors for their active roles in the project’s success and their commitment to community service and development.
