SANAA, Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Taha Al-Mutawakel met Monday with UNICEF Deputy Representative in Yemen.
The meeting, which was attended by Undersecretary of Health Ministry for the Care Sector Dr. Mohammed al-Mansour, discussed aspects of cooperation between the Ministry and the Organization in the health fields.
In the meeting, the Minister of Health reviewed the health conditions and the suffering of motherhood and childhood in Yemen as a result of the continued aggression and blockade leading to shortages of medicines, medical supplies and equipment, especially nurseries.
He stressed the need to support intensive care centers for children and provide health care services for children and mothers in light of the situation in the country, noting the support of UNICEF for the health sector and for the ministry's efforts in primary health care as well as mother and child care and other fields.
On the other hand, Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Taha al-Mutawakel also discussed with the representative of Medecins Sans FrontiAres Mission in Spain (MSF-Spain) the aspects related to the support of the mission to the health sector at Al-Zouhra district in Hodeidah province.
The Minister of Health stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the ministry and Doctors Without Borders to overcome the challenges facing the health sector, pointing out the ministry's keenness to overcome any difficulties facing all humanitarian organizations and facilitate their tasks.
