ALGIERS-- Algeria is sending five teams totalling 30 runners to represent the country in the 5th African Cross-Country Championships to be held next week in the northern city of Chlef, about 250 kilometres west of here, the Algerian Federation of Athletics (FAA) says.
The athletes, who will compete in the senior men, senior women, Under-20 boys, under-20 girls and mixed relay events, were shortlisted at the 54th National Cross-Country Championship held on Feb 24 in Chlef.
"The selection was made on the following basis -- the top four ranked athletes at the last national championship, held on Feby 24, 2018, in Chlef plus those who have been chosen by the Federation's National Technical Directorate," said the FAA.
The Algerian athletes involved in this 5th African Cross-Country Championships held a training camp from Feb 25, in the Chlef Centrr for Sports Elite under the leadership of national coaches Mohamed Salem, Sid-Ali Sakhri and Ali SaA�di-Sief.
