JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia, The Saudi-led coalition, to support legitimate government in Yemen, said Wednesday, it shares concern with the United Nations, over the humanitarian disaster in Yemen.
The disaster deepens as a result of the control by the Houthi rebels, over Al-Hudaydah seaport, east Yemen, the coalition said in a press release.
The Houthi rebels continue blocking the aid supplies through the seaport and, instead, use it for arms and human smuggling, the statement said.
The Houthi militias seized aid convoys and sold the assistance at double the prices for needy people, in order to finance their military activities against the legitimate government.
The coalition has repeatedly asked the UN to exercise its powers, and take hold of the Al-Hudaydah seaport, to ensure unhindered flow of relief materials to the Yemenis, the statement reminded.
It added that, other Yemeni ports, such as Aden and Al-Mukallah, were rehabilitated and are handling the delivery of humanitarian aid.
