Arab League implores UN to stave off “war crime” in Gaza

Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmad Abul-Gheit on Friday called on UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to throw "his political and moral weight" to prevent a "new war crime" the Israeli occupation is planning to commit in the Gaza Strip.

Abul-Gheit gave the warning in an urgent letter addressed to the UN chief, citing the Israeli occupation's calls on Gazans to move to southern Gaza immediately, the Cairo-based league said in a press release.

He underlined that this new crime would cause unlimited woes and sufferings to the people of Gaza in breach of the Geneva Convention IV on Civilians.

He cautioned that what the Israeli occupation is doing is an appalling revengeful act to randomly use military force to punish defenseless civilians and residents in Gaza.
