Aspects of cooperation between Humanitarian Affairs Council & MSF discussed

The Assistant Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohamed Fares, met today, Tuesday, with the head of the international office of Doctors Without Borders, Christos Christou.

During the meeting, ways to enhance cooperation between the Council and Doctors Without Borders were discussed in an optimal manner by contributing to alleviating human suffering according to the priorities of needs.

Fares welcomed the head of the international office of the organization and his accompanying delegation on their visit to Yemen, pointing out that the visit will allow them to see the worst human suffering in the world caused by the aggression and siege on the Yemeni people eight years ago in various aspects of life.

He pointed out the importance of enhancing coordination between the Supreme Council and Doctors Without Borders in implementing sustainable projects and effective interventions that contribute to alleviating human suffering.

Fares touched on the humanitarian needs in various sectors, foremost of which is the health sector, which is one of the sectors most affected by the aggression and the blockade, which negatively affected the health status , treatment facilities and health personnel.

For his part, Christou indicated that the aim of the visit is to see the great tragedy experienced by the Yemeni people and to provide support requirements from donor countries, pointing to aspects of cooperation between the organization and the Humanitarian Affairs Council.
