SANAA, The Brazilian Defense Minister Fernando Azevedo e Silva has ruled out his country's involvement in a military intervention in Venezuela after Brazilian President Javier Paulsonaro left the door open for the military option a week ago.

"Brazil is looking for a peaceful and rapid solution to the crisis in Venezuela," said the Brazilian minister visiting Washington.

This came in remarks made Tuesday evening after a meeting with US Deputy Defense Secretary Patrick M. Shanahan at the Pentagon.

Venezuela is in a political crisis that began after President Nicolas Maduro won last year's presidential election, which was not recognized by much of the international community, and intensified on January 23 when Venezuelan parliament speaker Juan Guido had declared himself interim president for country.
