Conditions of cooperative society for cow farms, pens in Hodeida discussed

The governor of Hodeida province, Mohammed Ayyash Quhim, chaired on Sunday a meeting to discuss in the conditions of the Cooperative Society for cattle farms and pens in the province.

The meeting touched on the complete destruction of the cow sheds as a result of the aggression that caused the death and loss of hundreds of cows and livestock.

In the meeting, Quhim noted the importance of coordinating with civil society organizations to restore the projects that the aggression destroyed, serving thousands of families in these difficult circumstances the country is going through.

He stressed the keenness of the province leadership to support the efforts and plans of cooperative societies and all institutions and bodies concerned with food security to reach self-sufficiency.

For his part, the Cooperative Society’s chairman, Mohammed Ibrahim Trap, reviewed the activities and tasks of the society, and the losses and material damage it incurred due to the aggression, including the death of 1,084 cows, a large number of sheep and goats, in addition to the loss of more than 700 heads of cows.

He explained that the losses of the society members exceeded one billion riyals, and they are living in harsh conditions.

Trap pointed out that before the destruction, the society was producing 40,000 liters of dairy per day, thousands of tons of meat, and hundreds of tons of organic fertilizers, in addition to providing job opportunities for hundreds of laborers, and serving more than 10,000 beneficiaries, including farmers, workers, distributors and sellers.
