Deryan sternly condemns ballistic attack on Two Holy Mosques

Grand Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdulateef Deryan, censured in a statement on Saturday the ballistic missile attack on Mecca, asserting that targeting the Two Holy Mosques is a heinous crime against Islam's most sacred place and all Muslims across the globe.

Houthi rebels launched a Scud missile from Saada province in Yemen towards Mecca on Thursday. The Saudi air defense system was able to intercept and destroy the missile 65 kilometers from the target site.

"This act provokes the feelings of all Muslims. Attacks on the sanctity of Islam should not pass quietly," said Deryan, urging action to fend off and forbid any such attack before it spiraled out of control and caused strife.
