Discussing European Union Commission’s interventions in humanitarian aspects of Dhamar

A meeting in Dhamar province, headed by Governor Muhammad Al-Bukhaiti today, discussed the interventions of the European Union Commission’s Office for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection, in financing humanitarian projects and mechanisms for expanding the scope of intervention in other sectors.

In the meeting, which included the representative of the Commission’s office, “Francisco Digmont,” the representative of the German Red Cross delegation, “Barat Azizov,” the representative of the Danish Red Cross, Dr. Saad Al-Shallal, and the Executive Director of the Yemeni Red Crescent Society, Dr. Muhammad Al-Ghaili, Governor Al-Bukhaiti reviewed the difficulties faced by the local authority as a result of the continued... Aggression, siege, and its role in providing facilities to humanitarian organizations in the province.

He stressed the importance of expanding interventions in humanitarian aspects, according to priorities and to meet the needs of society, especially drinking water, health, roads and the environment.

He pointed out the readiness of the province leadership to provide a plot of land to the Yemen Red Crescent Society branch in order to expand the medical services activities provided by the society’s branch in Dhamar.

In turn, the representative of the European Union Commission Office stressed the keenness to support a number of humanitarian projects in coordination with partners in the German, Danish Red Cross and the Yemeni Red Crescent.

In addition, the representative of the European Union Commission for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection, representatives of the German and Danish Red Cross, and the Executive Director of the Yemen Red Crescent Society, were briefed on the progress of work at the Red Crescent Society Medical Center and the medical services it provides in the fields of women, childbirth, and others.

The Executive Director of the Yemen Red Crescent Society branch in Dhamar, Bashir Al-Khaiwani, reviewed the services provided by the Society branch and the medical center in the fields of women, obstetrics, internal medicine, orthopedics, maternity and emergency services, minor operations, and primary health care services.

While the director of the branch of the local water and sanitation corporation, Taha al-Hindi, pointed out the importance of the project to connect the rural water network to the Haran region in providing the water needs of citizens on the outskirts of the city and meeting part of the community’s emergency needs.
