SANAA, A meeting was held in Sana'a on Wed. with Minister of Health and Population Taha al-Mutawakel, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation Abdul Mohsen Tawoos and OCHA Bureau Director Aydin O'Leary.
The meeting discussed humanitarian and health interventions that should be provided urgently in light of the work in place and precautionary steps to counter the CORONA virus.
The meeting reviewed the most important needs that need to be provided to quarantine centers in Yemeni ports and the role of the World Health Organization towards those returning to Yemeni territory and those who are subject to quarantine to ensure that they are free of the coronavirus.
At the meeting, the Minister of Health explained that WHO interventions under the current phase and with regard to actions taken to address Corona were limited and inadequate. He called for more efforts and support to confront the Coronavirus and prevent its entry into Yemen.
He reiterated that Yemen is free of the coronavirus. "All precautions must be taken in order to maintain this achievement by strengthening precautionary steps that will raise health awareness so that Yemen remains protected from exposure to this virus," he said.
For his part, the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs stressed the need to provide the necessary support for returnees, who are in the ports and subject to precautionary measures by international organizations, especially the World Health Organization (WHO) concerned with providing support and support to the response to the coronavirus.
