Egypt FM: Dealing with roots of the current crisis by resuming peace process

CAIRO, - Egypt's government on Sunday stressed the necessity of dealing with the roots of the crisis in the Palestinian territories by working to resume the peace process between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that this came during a phone call received by Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri from the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hussein Al-Sheikh, to discuss the latest developments in Gaza.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister affirmed his country's categorical rejection of any attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause based on calls for displacement or displacement policies launched by the Israeli Army for the residents of the Gaza Strip.

He pointed out that Egypt continues to make all its efforts to put an end to the ongoing escalation and to shed of the blood of innocent civilians, noting the continuation of its consultations with influential regional and international parties to stop the Israeli bombing and provide safe and urgent access to humanitarian aid for the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The statement pointed to a briefing provided by the Palestinian official on the security situation in Gaza Strip and its surroundings, especially about the deteriorating humanitarian conditions and the harsh conditions to which Palestinians are exposed under the continuous bombardment, siege, and calls to evacuate their homes and remain without adequate shelter.
