SANA’A, The third phase of the distribution of Emergency Shelter Kits (ESKs) for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Sana’a province was inaugurated on Tuesday.
The ESKs, provided by the General Union of Sociologists, Social Workers, and Psychologists –Yemen (YGUSSWP), were distributed to 417 beneficiaries of the displaced and affected families in a number of areas in Hamadan district.
The third phase, funded by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), is implemented in coordination with the branch of the Supreme Council for Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation (SCMCHA) in Sana’a province.
The ESK is designed to provide the materials and tools to construct a simple shelter for displaced families for a short period until a more suitable and durable solution can be found.
The ESKs distribution is a part of a protection-shelter activities project implemented by the YGUSSWP.
The project has provided ESKs for 2,200 displaced families so far, including 1,200 families in Hamadan and 1,000 families in Bani Hushaish district in three phases in coordination with humanitarian partners.
