SANAA, Five workers died on Friday night and three others were injured last night in an explosion caused by a gas leak at a factory in east China's Shandong Province.
Local authorities said in a statement that the blast occurred in a plant to deal with volcanic sand used especially in agriculture.
"The primary cause of the explosion is a liquefied natural gas (LNG) leak and an additional investigation is underway," the statement said.
The statement pointed to the arrest of one of the officials of the plant.
The accident comes a week after a chemical factory explosion in Yanqing, east China's Jiangsu Province, which killed 78 people, was one of the worst accidents in the country's history.
