Fayez stresses importance of developing Jordanian-U.S. ‘strategic’ partnership…1st, final add

During the meeting, Fayez said Jordan rejects any solutions to the Palestinian issue at expense of the Kingdom's "unwavering" national higher interests, renouncing attempts to tamper with Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites, or alter its legal and historical status quo. Valuing U.S. aid provided to Jordan, Fayez called on Washington to increase volume of its assistance to enable Jordan to face economic challenges, triggered by regional developments, and help the Kingdom continue its "pivotal" role to achieve the region's peace and stability and extend care for refugees on its territories. For his part, Wooster spoke about the "solid and historic" US-Jordanian relations, pointing out that Washington's relations with Amman are "distinguished and unparalleled" at various levels, especially after signing a "strategic" partnership agreement that extends for 7 years, and is deemed the longest pact in the two friendly countries' history. The US envoy said his country views Jordan as "the closest" partner in the world, highlighting U.S. keenness to continue building partnership relations with Jordan, especially in the economic and investment aspects to serve common interests. He also noted Washington is aware of the magnitude of the economic and security challenges that Jordan is facing due to regional crises and repercussions triggered by Covid-19 pandemic and Russian-Ukrainian war on prices of energy and food commodities.
