SANAA, Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf on Monday called on UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, President and members of the Security Council and the UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, to the resumption of permits for ships loaded with oil derivatives and foodstuffs to enter Yemeni ports.

In an urgent message, the Minister of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the United Nations Verification and Inspection Mechanism for Yemen (UNVIM) team in Yemen had stopped granting permits to ships to enter Yemeni ports.

He pointed out that this contradicts the main task of the mechanism supervised by the United Nations, which is to facilitate the restrictions on the entry of commodities to Yemen, and that the suspension of granting permits will have a significant negative repercussions, especially that the Republic of Yemen imports most of its needs of food, medicine and oil derivatives from Abroad, not to mention that it is suffering from the worst humanitarian disaster in the world caused by the US-saudi coalition of aggression and their mercenaries who trade the lives of the Yemeni people and play the role of merchants and warlords.

The Foreign Minister added in the letters that such a decision will reflect negatively on the peace efforts and the implementation of the Stockholm agreements.
