SANAA, Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf Abdullah met on Tuesday with Deputy Resident Representative of the office of United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Sanaa.
During the meeting, they discussed aspects of joint cooperation between Yemen and OHCHR and means of enhancing and developing them, as well as discussing the latest developments related to the work of the international and regional experts team to investigate human rights violations in Yemen.
The Foreign Minister referred to the crimes and violations by the countries of the aggression coalition against international humanitarian law and international human rights law, including the violation of the economic rights of the Yemeni people through the economic war and the policy of collective punishment, the latest of which was preventing the entry of vessels of oil derivatives to the port of Hodeidah.
He stressed the need for the international community and human rights organizations to exert pressure on countries of aggression to stop the crimes and violations and end the aggression and siege imposed on Yemen for the fifth year in a row.
The Foreign Minister reiterated the readiness of the Government of National Salvation to receive and cooperate with the team of regional and international experts to investigate human rights violations in Yemen and enable them to perform his duties optimally.
For her part, the UN official reiterated the commitment of the Office of the High Commissioner to protect and promote human rights in Yemen, especially during difficult circumstances.
