Guterres expressed appreciation for the important humanitarian role that the Kingdom plays in hosting refugees, and the vital services it provides to them, and affirmed the depth of the partnership of the United Nations and Jordan in efforts to meet the needs of refugees and in many other issues. In addition, Safadi briefed Guterres on Arab effort, which was institutionalized after the Jeddah and Amman meetings, to play a major role in efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis that addresses all its humanitarian, security and political consequences according to the step by step principle, and in line with the UN Resolution 2254. The meeting also dealt with the importance of continuing to provide the necessary support to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). Safadi and Guterres said that UNRWA's role cannot be dispensed, as it suffers from the lack of the necessary allocations. Safadi also briefed Guterres on efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah to find a real political horizon to activate the peace process and reach a just and comprehensive peace, according to the two-state solution and the approved references as the only way to resolve the Palestinian cause. Safadi and Guterres stressed the importance of maintaining consultation and coordination between Jordan and the United Nations under the strong partnership between them and their continuous cooperation in efforts to achieve security and stability in the region.
