SANAA, The Supreme Elections Committee held today a meeting chaired by Judge Mohammed Al-Salmi, Chairman of the Committee in the presence of the Vice-Chairman of the Committee, the members and the Secretary-General.
The meeting discussed the mechanism of forming the parliamentary election management committees to fill the vacant seats which will take place during the year 2019 (supervisory, original and subsidiary).
After a thorough discussion of the options presented, the Higher Committee approved the formation to be consisted of Education Sector's staff, who meet the conditions stipulated in Article 26 of the Elections Law and the criteria approved by the Higher Committee in this regard.
The Supreme Committee also approved the referral of the draft electoral evidence to the legal sector to complete the procedures for their issuance in accordance with the law.
The committee discussed the estimated budget of the vacant parliamentary elections, and was approved and directed to be submitted to the President of the Supreme Political Council to ask the government approval.
It also approved draft memorandum submitted by the head of the foreign relations sector and directed to a number of international organizations and bodies to participate in monitoring the parliamentary elections to fill vacant seats.
The Committee was briefed on the report submitted by the technical sector and the Secretariat on the equipment provided for the elections and approved the completion of the work and the implementation of the tasks in accordance with the program and work plan.
