ADEN, Yemen, Nov 15 (NNN-SABA) – A huge explosion occurred near a police station and a centre of military operations, in the southern port city of Aden on Tuesday, at least six soldiers and five civilians were killed.

A security official said that, a vehicle loaded with explosives rammed into Abdul-Aziz police station, and an operations room for the UAE-backed Yemeni troops in Aden, barely nine days after a similar attack that targeted the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) building in Aden, claimed 47 lives.

The security source said that “the vehicle with explosives hit the entrance of the police station, causing the casualties among soldiers, and five civilians died because the blast occurred in a residential area.”

Residents in other neighbourhoods of Aden said, the huge explosion could be felt from buildings distance away.

Eyewitnesses said that, many ambulances were dispatched to the scene after the huge blast, and some cars were damaged in the explosion.

The police building was damaged and other nearby houses were affected in the bombing, and several people were injured from broken glass shattered from the windows during the explosion.

Ali Abdullah, a journalist in Aden, said, “My building was shaking when the explosion went off. I came out and saw smoke from the police centre and cars are burning.”

An official of Aden’s Police Command said, “It could be a suicide attack by the Daesh group, and there are bodies of soldiers still left under the rubble.”

No group has claimed responsibility, but the Daesh has claimed the last suicide attack that targeted Aden’s security headquarters and the CID.

The southern port city of Aden is considered as Yemen’s temporary capital and the Saudi-backed Yemeni government based itself there since 2015.
