ICRC’s activities in Hodeida discussed

Deputy Governor of Hodeida province Ahmed al-Basheri on Sunday discussed with a delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) the relief, humanitarian and service interventions made by the ICRC in Hodeida.

In the meeting, al-Basheri praised the interventions and support of the ICRC in Hodeida in the humanitarian and service aspects, especially in the areas of water and sanitation, health, agriculture and assistance to fishermen, in addition to the humanitarian and relief activities provided to the displaced and those affected by the aggression and siege.

He called on the mission to expand its interventions and activities to include sustainable service and development projects that contribute to alleviating the suffering of citizens.

The head of the delegation of the ICRC referred to the interventions carried out by the mission in the water and health sectors in al-Durayhimi district and al-Qate’a city in al-Marawea’a district, Zabid and Bait al-Faqih districts and provide food security for the displaced.

He indicated that the mission is currently carrying out, in coordination with the Tihama Development Authority, the restoration work of a farm in al-Jarrahi district and providing it with water and solar energy network with the aim of planting 10 to 15 hectares of agricultural land, distributing seeds to farmers, in addition to assisting fishermen and providing their needs of fishing tools.

The head of the sub-delegation of ICRC valued the cooperation of the local authority in the province and the Council for Humanitarian Affairs with the mission during the implementation of its humanitarian and relief interventions and activities in the province and its districts.
