The aim of the visit was to clarify what was stated in the report issued by the UN secretary General Ban ki moon.

Kaag said following the meeting "Lebanon is not concerned by the report of the Secretary General of the United Nations. We have not asked for a permanent settlement or naturalization of the Syrian and yhe Palestinian refugees in Lebanon."

Kaag added "the position of the UN is clear and will remain the same; the solution to the Syrian refugees file is a political solution in Syria. The Lebanese Constitution is explicit in this regard. The report does not advocate the implementation or naturalization," she assured.

The UN official said that the UN position was clarified with Foreign Minister.

"We believe that the return to Syria if the situation allows is the key. We are aware that Lebanon hosts a large number of refugees on its soil," Kaag confirmed.

On the other hand, Kaag said that Prime Minister Tammam Salam will travel in the coming days to Istanbul in order to participate in the World Summit on Humanitarian work.

"We always cooperate with the international community and donor parties to ensure the funds to Lebanon to empower it to take on this burden", she concluded.
