Yemeni activist and 2011 Nobel Peace Prize winner Tawakul Karman has announced her willingness to help and support wounded protesters and the families of slain protesters through the donation of the cash portion of her Nobel Prize award.
On her Facebook page, Karman stated that she would like to deposit the prize money into a fund for “the wounded and families of martyrs.”
Karman further demanded that Prime Minister Mohammed Basindowa quickly establish such a fund.
She also stated that that she would contact potential donors and request their support and financing of the fund.
“The wounded and martyrs deserve appreciation, care, honor and pride,” concluded Karman on her Facebook page.
