The unemployment rate in November 2016 improved from 3.5 per cent in October 2016 to 3.4 per cent, said the Statistics Department.

"However, on a seasonally-adjusted month-on-month basis, the unemployment

rate in November 2016 was 3.6 per cent, up 0.1 percentage point from the

preceding month," it said in a statement here today.

The department said the labour force participation rate in November 2016

increased by 0.1 per cent to 67.7 per cent as compared with October 2016.

The labour force in Malaysia stood at 14.83 million in November 2016, up

slightly from 14.69 million in the previous month, it said.

"Housewives, students, disabled persons, retirees and those not interested

to work make up 7.08 million of those who are outside the labour force," it

said.
