Measures to protect citizens from dangers of fireworks in old city of Sana’a discussed

A meeting chaired by the Head of the Civil Defense Department, Maj. Gen. Abdelfattah al-Madani, discussed on Tuesday aspects of coordination with the local authority in the old city of Sana'a to enhance security and safety procedures and protect citizens from the dangers of storing fireworks.

The meeting, which included the Undersecretary of the Authority, Maj. Gen. Hussein Aziz, the director of the Old Sana’a Directorate, Mahdi Arhab, approved the formation of a joint committee from the Authority, the local authority, and the district’s security to raise awareness of the dangers of in selling and purchasing fireworks inside the city.

It also decided to address fireworks dealers to take out explosive materials and fireworks from the old city of Sana'a, within a maximum period of three months from the date of issuing the statement.

The meeting stressed the need to communicate with the General Electricity Corporation to repair the electricity network, prevent random connection in the city's neighborhoods and alleys, and organize it according to technical specifications to avoid any fires.
