A meeting in Dhale’ province, headed by the Acting Governor Abdullatif al-Shaghdari, discussed on Monday the mechanism of promoting the agricultural sector and establishing cooperative societies.

The meeting, which included members of the province agricultural committee, touched on aspects related to bringing about an agricultural renaissance through using lands suitable for cultivation of grains, legumes and fruit trees to reach self-sufficiency.

It reviewed the vision presented by the Agriculture and Irrigation Office, which includes the mechanism of human resources development, the development of local communities, the development of water and financial resources and activating the role of agricultural extension in educating farmers about modern farming methods as well as contributing to the work of barriers to exploit rainwater in agricultural work.

Al- Shaghdari stressed the need to work in a team spirit to implement the directives of the Leader of the Revolution in paying attention to the agricultural aspect, establishing cooperative societies and activating the role of the private sector and citizens to move towards agriculture and raise the domestic product.

He stressed the importance of organizing the community on the cooperative side, focusing on uncultivated areas and working according to programs and plans to develop agricultural production of food crops that citizens need.
