SANAA, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced the suspension of study in government and private institutions of higher education for a period of one month, as off Monday, March 16, 2020.
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Hussein Hazeb explained in a meeting that this decision was taken in implementation of the decisions of the Higher Ministerial Committee for Epidemic Control and the Higher Committee for Coordination and Acceptance in Higher Education, and according to the memorandum of the Ministry of Public Health and Population regarding the suspension of the educational process in universities as precautionary measures to confront Coronavirus.
The Ministry called on universities and colleges to educate students through the websites and networks of universities about the symptoms of the virus and ways to prevent it.
The Ministry decided that the situation would remain under evaluation and review according to the instructions of the Higher Ministerial Committee and the Ministry of Health
Ministry of Civil Service and Insurance also announced the suspension of the fingerprint system in all units of the state’s administrative apparatus, the public and mixed sectors, and the private sector for a month as of Monday.
The ministry said in a statement that the decision comes in implementation of the decisions of the Higher Ministerial Committee and the memorandum of the Ministry of Public Health and Population as a precautionary measure to confront Corona virus, provided that attendance and leave are proven via other administrative ways.
The statement pointed out that this measure comes within the framework of the Ministry's keenness to actively contribute beside the state agencies and institutions to taking precautionary measures to confront Corona.
