The Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied on Saturday news circulated by some media and social websites that there was an assassination attempt against Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf.

A senior official in the Ministry said in a statement to Saba, that the posted information was inaccurate.

An accidental incident happened on Friday afternoon, November 5, in Al-Sayyah area in the capital, while the minister was attending a wedding ceremony, the official explained.

"The incident caused the injury of one of the minister's guards, who was taken to a hospital for treatment, and he is now in a stable condition."

The official called on journalists and media reporters to have accuracy and credibility and to obtain information from its official sources.
