RIYADH, The open-ended emergency extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Executive Committee at the ministerial level concluded on Wednesday with a final communique, calling for an immediate cessation of the barbaric aggression of the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, and the immediate lifting of the siege imposed on the Strip.
The meeting, which was held in the Saudi city of Jeddah to discuss the Israeli occupation's aggression on the Gaza Strip, also affirmed its strong condemnation of the unprecedented aggression against civilians in the besieged Gaza Strip and in the entire occupied Palestinian territories.
OIC member states also condemned the killing, bombing, and deliberate destruction of infrastructure, including threats to commit atrocities and genocide.
The final communique also stressed on the absolute rejection of targeting civilians under any pretext, or displacing them from their homes, or starving them.
OIC members calls on all countries and the international community to quickly provide urgent humanitarian, medical and relief aid, provide water and electricity, and open safe humanitarian corridors immediately to deliver urgent aid to the Gaza Strip, including through United Nations organizations, especially the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and support its efforts in this regard.
OIC members also warned against the dangerous path of continuing a policy of deliberate targeting of civilians, and collective punishment, accompanied by policies of starvation and water deprivation, and the cessation of the only power plant in the Gaza Strip from working due to the prevention of access to fuel.
The statement also indicated a real disaster for all health and humanitarian services, in contravention of international humanitarian law and amounting to the commission of international crimes, including crimes against humanity.
OIC members strongly condemns the blatant targeting by the brutal Israeli occupation forces of the Al-Ahly Baptist Hospital in Gaza Strip, which led to the killing and wounding of hundreds of patients and displaced innocent civilians, which represents a war crime and genocide and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, ethics, and international and humanitarian conventions, and calls on the international community to act quickly and hold them accountable.
The Israeli occupation has committed these heinous war crimes against the Palestinian people and all of humanity and demands immediate intervention to stop this massacre, the statement noted.
OIC members point to "Israel" as it holds an occupying power fully responsible for the fate of civilians in Gaza Strip, and the real tragedy they are exposed to under bombardment, siege, and starvation without electricity, food, or clean water, while forcing them to abandon their homes, and for the policy of indiscriminate collective punishment that it follows in flagrant violation of international and international humanitarian law in accordance with the Geneva Conventions as the occupying power.
OIC members emphasized the importance of preserving the lives of all civilians and not targeting them in any way, as this is inconsistent with international law, international humanitarian law, and divine laws.
OIC members categorically rejects calls to displace the Palestinian population of Gaza Strip, stresses support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their land, and stresses the importance of the international community playing its role to prevent any attempts to displace them outside of their land, or transfer the crisis to neighboring countries, which will exacerbates the issue of refugees, the right to return, and compensation which must be met within the framework of a comprehensive solution to the conflict that addresses the issues.
The OIC statement expresses its deep condemnation and regret to the failure of United Nations Security Council and its inability to carry out its responsibilities by taking a decisive decision in order to stop war crimes carried out by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the entire Palestinian territories, which reflects negatively on the Council's role in maintaining international peace and security and protecting defenseless civilians.
OIC members demands the United Nations and the United Nations Security Council to assume its responsibilities by taking all urgent measures to ensure stopping the brutal and barbaric aggression against the Palestinian people, specifically in the Gaza Strip and throughout the Palestinian territories, allowing the entry of humanitarian aid, providing protection for defenseless Palestinian civilians, and stopping the escalating humanitarian catastrophe carried out by the illegal Israeli occupation forces.
OIC members also warned of the escalation of attacks by the Israeli occupation army and settler terrorism supported by weapons and protection from the occupation forces in Al-Quds Al-Sharif and the West Bank in their continuing aggression against the civilian population and their property, including killing, destroying, displacing, building and expanding settlements.
The statement also emphasized on the support to the Palestinian government at all levels, including political, economic, and financial support for its international and legal movement in the international arena.
OIC members also deplores international stances that support the brutal aggression against the Palestinian people which grants the Israeli occupation impunity, taking advantage of the double standards that provide cover for the occupier and fuel the conflict, which will only lead to an increase in violence and destruction and seek to punish the Palestinian people, including cutting off humanitarian aid to them.
The statement affirmed that peace, security and stability in the region are achieved by ending the Israeli colonial occupation and its oppressive practices against the Palestinian people, and by empowering the Palestinian people with their inalienable rights, specifically their right to self-determination, independence and return based on international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.
OIC members also called on international parties involved to engage in sponsoring a serious political path to achieve peace based on ending the illegal Israeli occupation that began in 1967 and implementing the two-state solution within a clear time frame, as stipulated in the rules of international law and United Nations resolutions and on the basis of the terms of reference of the peace process and the Arab Peace Initiative.
OIC members called for missions of OIC member states and the Islamic group to immediately take action to convey OIC stands to capitals and international organizations.
The statement called as well on all members to approve all diplomatic and legal channels to ensure an end to crimes against humanity committed by the Israeli occupation.
