SANAA, Hours after India said it successfully tested anti-satellite weapons, Pakistan on Wednesday called for non-militarization of space and for a ban on military threats in outer space.
"Space is the common heritage of mankind, and each country has a responsibility to avoid actions that could militarize this arena," the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"We hope that countries that have in the past strongly condemned the pride of others such capabilities are ready to work on the development of international commitments to prevent military threats in outer space, " the statement read.
"Boasting such capabilities reminds us of Don Quixote's tendency to fight against windmills," the ministry said, implicitly criticizing Indian experience without naming New Delhi.
India announced on Wednesday that it had successfully tested an anti-satellite weapon, which was able to down a low-Earth orbit target.
