Pentagon Press Secretary Air Force Brig.-Gen. Pat Ryder said that US initial assessment indicates that Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin was killed in a plane crash northwest of Moscow yesterday.
"We're continuing to assess the situation. We don't have any information to indicate right now," Ryder told reporters on Thursday. Commenting on press reports that there was some type of surface to air missile that took down the plane, he said, "We assessed that information to be inaccurate." "Again, nothing to indicate and no information to suggest that there was a surface to air missile. But beyond that, I'm really just not going to have any further information," he made clear.
"Our initial assessment, based on a variety of factors, is that he was likely killed," the press secretary added.
