Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor on Wednesday confirmed the government's keenness to support small fishermen and work on translating presidential directives in this regard in cooperation with relevant international organizations.
This came during his meeting with Minister of Fisheries Dr. Mohammed Al-Zubayri to discuss the conditions of the Fisheries Ministry and the activities implemented during the first quarter of this year as part of its annual plan.
The meeting focused on the situation of the fishermen, especially in Hodeida province, and the problems and obstacles they face and ways to solve them so that they can continue their vital activity in the service of food security.
The condition of the central fish markets and retail markets in the provinces and the need for them to adhere to health and environmental requirements were discussed in the meeting.
The Prime Minister praised the various efforts and programs implemented by the Ministry of Fisheries and its plans to develop this vital sector.
