SANAA, Prime Minister Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Habtoor met on Sunday with the Deputy Head of the mission of International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Yemen, who briefed him on the organization's activities during the past period and its future directions.
The meeting discussed the cooperation relations between Yemen and the IOM on all issues related to legal and illegal migration, especially from the Horn of Africa, confronting human trafficking, as well as the existing and required interventions executed by the Organization towards internal migration due to the unsafe conditions in some provinces and regions because of the war, on the one hand, and the insecure situation in the occupied provinces by the US-saudi-UAE aggression coalition on the other.
The meeting discussed ways to strengthen mechanisms of joint action between concerned bodies and the organization to address immigration and refugees issues and deal with them, especially illegal ones, and to work to repatriate them voluntarily.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister pointed out that Yemen, despite its difficult circumstances, continues to receive these expatriates from the Horn of Africa as part of its high values and respect for fraternal and humanitarian bonds.
He stressed the keenness of the National Salvation Government to strengthen the relations of cooperation and overcome any difficulties that may interfere with the activities of the Organization to serve the common humanitarian goals in this area.
In his turn, tho official of organization referred to the existing partnership on migration issues, stressing that the organization's humanitarian activity has expanded significantly over the past six months compared to the previous period.
He pointed out that the organizations' obligations are not limited to immigration from abroad to Yemen, but to internal migration.
He highly valued the continued receiving for migrants and refugees in Yemen, despite these difficult circumstances, pointing out that this is a sign of the other's welcoming rooted in culture of the Yemeni people.
