Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) in a letter to Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of Republic of the South Sudan to expressed concern over the armed robbery in the compound of Association for Media Development in South Sudan (AMDISS) at the night of October 27th, 2016 in Juba.

PPF Secretary General Owais Aslam Ali in his letter urged government of South Sudan to take action against the perpetrators of the crime. Aslam Ali also urged their government to provide security to the journalists’ community so they could perform their jobs effectively.

According to the AMDISS, five robbers broke into their compound by holding the lone guard at gunpoint. They took away two laptops, a television flat screen, a camera, a hard drive and looted the safe which had fifteen thousand Sudanese pounds (15,000 SSP) and one hundred US dollars ($100).

The association has been home to many journalists, and has been addressing the lack of training facilities in Juba. Playing a pivotal role in Freedom of Expression by engaging stakeholders in dialogue and creating a friendly environment for journalists and media houses, AMDISS was hit by a blow it did not deserve.
