SANAA, President of the Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat on Monday met with Speaker of Parliament Yahya Ali al-Ra'i.
In the meeting, the president express his congratulations to the Yemeni people on the success of the supplementary elections to fill vacant parliamentary seats despite the brutal aggression and shelling and the siege imposed on the country.
"The success of these elections proved the strong will of the people and the state's republican and democratic approach, and frustrated the enemies' bet," said the president.
President al-Mashat expressed thanks to the Supreme Commission for Elections for its efforts in managing the electoral process fairly and impartially, which was observed by 45 local, Arab and international organizations.
He also appreciated the steadfastness of the Parliament's speaker and members and their continuity in holding meetings despite the threats and temptations they have been subjected to by the aggression countries.
For his part, the Parliament's speaker confirmed that the vacant seats elections is a constitutional step in the right path, noting that there is no legitimacy for any actions contrary to the Constitution and the bylaws of the parliament.
