President Mehdi al-Mashat met on Tuesday the special envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen Martin Griffiths.

At the meeting, al-Mashat praised the great efforts played by the UN envoy to push the political process and alleviate the worsening humanitarian situation on the Yemeni people.

During the meeting, the officials discussed the latest developments on the Yemeni arena and aspects relating to a implementation of the UN-brokered Swedish agreement to achieve a pace in Yemen.

The meeting touched on the worsening humanitarian situation in Yemen as a result of the continued military escalation and all-out blockade imposed by the Saudi-led coalition on the Yemeni people.

For his part, Griffith thanked the president al-Mashat for his support to the UN monitoring team in Hodeidah, addressing aspects regarding future consultations.
