PSD warns of public from drowning incidents during holiday season

The Public Security Department (PSD) urged the public to take necessary precautions during the holiday season, as drowning incidents of children increase. In an educational video clip posted on its official Facebook page, the PSD asked to disallow children from swimming in pools unless there is a lifeguard or a person with knowledge of swimming and rescue skills, and choose the place designated for swimming and to stay away from agricultural ponds, dams and dangerous water bodies. It also called for avoiding places that are cordoned off with a warning tape or marked with a warning sign that prevents approaching or swimming in them. It urged citizens to avoid emotional impulsiveness and attempting to save people without knowledge of rescue and swimming skills, in addition to avoiding wrong behaviors during hiking trips. During the past 24 hours, the Civil Defense Department (CDD) dealt with 1179 different emergency cases.
