MOSCOW, Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday called on the international community to provide security guarantees to North Korea to abandon its nuclear program.
Putin said at a news conference after his meeting with Kim in Vladivostok that North Korea's nuclear disarmament would not be possible without guarantees of safety and territorial integrity.
North Korea "needs guarantees for its security and sovereignty," the TASS news agency cited him as saying.
He pointed out that this is the way to resolve the nuclear dispute, and described his dialogue with Kim that it was constructive.
