Qatar voices concern over situation in Gaza

Qatar expressed Saturday grave concern over the current situation in Gaza, calling on all parties to halt escalation and achieve lull as well as exercise maximum self-restraint.

In a statement, Qatar's Foreign Ministry held only Israel accountable for the current escalation due to its continued violations of Palestinian people's rights, the latest of which was the repeated storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The ministry stressed the necessity for the international community to take an urgent action in order to compel Israel to stop its blatant breaches of international law, and to respect international legitimacy resolutions and historical rights of Palestinians.

It also called for halting these incidents to avoid a possible unequal war against civilians in the Gaza Strip.

The ministry renewed Qatar's unwavering stance supporting Palestinian cause's justice, legitimate rights of Palestinian people and the establishment of an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
