Red Sea Fisheries Authority Condemns Fatal Airstrike on Yemeni Fishermen

Dhubab:The General Authority for Red Sea Fisheries has condemned a Saudi airstrike that targeted fishermen's boats off the coast of Al-Kadha in the Dhubab district of Taiz governorate, resulting in the deaths of eight fishermen and injuries to others.

According to Yemen News Agency, the authority described the attack as part of a series of massacres against fishermen since the Saudi-led conflict in Yemen commenced in March 2015. It emphasized that the airstrike was a deliberate targeting of civilians striving to support their families.

The authority has held Saudi Arabia fully responsible for the attack and its repercussions on the victims and their families. It warned that such incidents threaten fishermen's livelihoods and destroy fishing boats, which are essential sources of food and income. Furthermore, the authority affirmed its intention to seek legal accountability for those responsible for these violations.

The authority has called on humanitarian organizations, the international community, and the United Nations to denounce the attack, take decisive action to protect fishermen, and work towards halting ongoing assaults against them.
