Sergey Kozlov, the Russian Ambassador to Yemen, recently stated that the international community supports the idea of Yemen’s national unity, but added that the ideal should not be imposed on southerners.
“Observing the demonstration held in the southern provinces gives us no choice but to take into account the desires of the southerners,” he said.
According to Kozlov, Yemenis have to put the interests of their country above all individual and partisan interests. He stated that southerners should be granted the opportunity to choose their representatives at the National Dialogue.
The Russian Ambassador praised the Southern Movement’s peaceful struggle and said that it reflected a civilized mentality. He further stated that the Southern Movement’s demonstrations revealed that its cause represented a public desire.
