ADEN, Yemen, Fighter jets of the Saudi Arabia-led coalition, on Sunday launched air strikes against a military base of the Houthi rebels, in Yemen's central province of Ibb, a government official said.

A number of Houthi military sites and gatherings inside Hamzah military base, located in the district of Sabrah, in the south-east of the province, were targeted in five Saudi-led air strikes, the government official said.

Arms caches and armoured vehicles were destroyed during the air strikes, launched after receiving important intelligence tips about the military location, the source added.

The Houthi rebels used Hamzah military camp as a centre for recruiting and mobilising new fighters for the battles in Dhalea province, he noted.

The air strikes on Sunday came, just three days after similar Saudi-led air strikes that targeted Houthi-controlled positions inside the Hamzah military base.

Saudi Arabia has been leading an Arab military coalition that intervened in the Yemeni war in early 2015, to support the government of exiled President, Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
