SCMCHA calls for lifting siege, stopping humanitarian catastrophe

The Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (SCMCHA) on Tuesday condemned the dangerous escalation of the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression against the Yemeni people.

In a statement, the SCMCHA considered the unjustified restrictions on the flow of basic materials, medicines and fuel, and impeding their entry to the port of Hodeida despite obtaining permits from the United Nations are a full-fledged war crime against a people suffering from unjust aggression and unfair

siege for more seven years.

The statement denounced the silence of the international community regarding the continued piracy of the aggression on fuel ships, resulting a complete paralysis in a number of hospitals, interruption of water and electricity services, halting the movement of goods and the rise in prices of basic foodstuffs.

It stressed the siege poses a serious threat to the lives of millions of Yemenis and the policy of starvation and siege expresses the moral and political decadence that America and its tools that have failed militarily have turned towards this policy with a criminal strategy that violates all humanitarian norms and laws.

The statement held the aggression responsible for the deterioration of the humanitarian situation as a result of the tightening of the blockade and the lack of oil derivatives and its catastrophic repercussions on the health and service sectors, calling on all organizations operating in Yemen to carry out their responsibilities, condemn the siege and pressure to end it and save the lives of millions of Yemenis.

The statement called on the international community to carry out its legal and humanitarian duties to prevent the criminal practices of aggression against the Yemeni people, work to open Hodeida port and Sana'a International Airport, and lift the siege.
