Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation (SCMCHA) Ibrahim Al-Hamali met here on Sunday with the Regional Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Muhammad Othman Karam.
In the meeting, which was attended by Director of the UNOPS Office in Yemen Fayyad Rasoul and the Director of Programs Khaldoun Salem, Al-Hamali stressed that the service and development projects implemented by UNOPS in Yemen have a positive impact on the society and contributed to alleviating the Yemeni people's suffering from the aggression and siege.
He pointed to the need to support Sana'a International Airport, and to focus on the service sector, particularly sanitation projects in some provinces.
Al-Hamali called on UNOPS to make more efforts in implementing sustainable projects in the fields of energy and water, in addition to intervening in projects of rehabilitating roads and sewage networks.
For his part, the UNOPS Regional Director valued the cooperation of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs to facilitate the UNOPS's tasks, stressing the readiness to intervene in several sectors, especially in the service sector.
